London: "Lost" Moomin story first time in English and early Tove Jansson stories – reading event

Monday, September 25, 2017 - 18:00

Rare Tove Jansson reading in Archway Library 25 September.

Writer, cartoonist, Tove Jansson historian and Finn-Guild member Ant O'Neill will be reading his own translation of Tove Jansson's last Moomin novel Villain in the Moominhouse (Skurken i Muminhuset, 1980), never published in English before. Alongside the reading we will see pictures of the original illustration.

As an added bonus, he will also be reading and showing his translations of Tove Jansson’s very earliest works, Sara and Pelle and Neptune’s Children (Sara och Pelle och neckens bläckfiskar) and Prickina and Fabian’s Adventure (Prickina och Fabians äventyr). Dating back to 1933 and 1929 respectively, these are amongst the first picture stories created by the then-teenage Tove Jansson.

The event is a part of ArchWay With Words Literary Festival.

Date: 25 September 2017, 6pm
Venue: Archway Library, 23 Highgate Hill, London N19 5LP

Free admission.
